The Portraits for NHS Heroes project was initiated in 2020 by Oxford-based artist Thomas Croft. Finding himself at a loss during the early days of lockdown, Thomas turned to the power of portraiture to help capture the efforts of NHS key workers across the country.  His portrait paintings soon caught the imagination of other artists across the UK and hundreds of beautiful paintings were created for our NHS staff. This site displays many of the works, and links through to many articles exploring the project and the wonderful NHS workers who have inspired it.
